What to Expect at Assessments
Coaches use assessment to confirm that swimmers are ready to be independent (from parent) in the water and which station they should begin their lessons.
- Assessments will be 1-1, a coach will be in the water with the swimmer and last about 5-10 minutes.
- Swimmers will meet a coach in the hallway outside of the pool and walk with coach onto the pool deck. Parents will stay in observation area. Please note that parents will not be allowed on the pool deck for assessments or lessons. There is a viewing window from the hallway waiting area.
- Swimmers should have a towel, flipflop/crocs, swim cap if longer hair, and goggles if they own them.
- For your consideration: The pool temp will be about 82 degrees which is typical for lap swim/competition pools. A swim wetsuit like this one by Warm Belly that allows for full arm movement may help your swimmer be comfortable in the pool and enjoy their experience. This is purely optional and not necessary to have in advance of assessments.
